Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, everyday rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and soft, pleasant-to-the-touch hair rich in oils to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads with this wool dyed with natural dyes, one by one, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pompoms can be removed for shipping

The pompoms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
