Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. These rugs are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses superior durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a high oil content that helps with temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads, characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a sensation of coolness.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being an original, one-of-a-kind piece.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but are also artistic enough to be hung on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove dirt and dust along the nap of the rug.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used for the wool may occur.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
