Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Varied wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature well, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-weave each one with wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, dyeing irregularities, etc. Please be aware that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used for the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
