Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as part of their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, making it soft and pleasant to the touch.
The Gabbeh, hand-woven thread by thread by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, is characterized by its fluffy and comfortable texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing it from feeling hot.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often features animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Vacuum or sweep along the pile to remove dirt and dust.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh is woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used for the wool may occur.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
