Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are long-pile rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbehs are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel, woven by Iranian nomads, one thread at a time, using wool dyed with natural dyes.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
