Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads of Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils to help regulate body temperature.
Gabbehs are hand-woven knot by knot by Iranian nomads using this naturally-dyed wool, resulting in a plush and pleasant feel. Well-woven Gabbehs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years. Born from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, Gabbehs are also known to be warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And, of course, there is their artistry. The Gabbehs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They are not only perfect for placing on the floor but can also be displayed on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of handwoven items. Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool, which may produce a characteristic odor from the dyes used. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
