Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to withstand the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of natural oil to effectively regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
This wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, resulting in Gabbehs that are characteristically fluffy and comfortable to the touch.
Well-woven Gabbehs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are also known for being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. The designs, imagined by nomads, often feature animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as a piece of art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing unevenness. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
Please be aware that this odor will gradually dissipate with use.
