Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are hand-woven rugs by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a high amount of oil to effectively regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh, made by the nomadic people of Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh created imaginatively by nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.

Daily Care

Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

The pom-poms located at the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
