Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as part of their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads by hand, strand by strand, using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool sensation.
And, above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh created imaginatively by nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, original item with no two alike.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pompoms can be removed before shipping.

The pompoms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
