Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture due to the high oil content that helps regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh, hand-woven by Iranian nomads strand by strand from naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their soft and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a mild detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortions, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
