Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as a part of their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft and pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, allows for effective temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads strand by strand with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being an original and unique piece, with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the pile direction.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can also be removed for shipping

The pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pom-poms does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
