Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is rich in natural oils, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and adept at regulating body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads one strand at a time after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Gabbeh rugs, woven with exceptional care, are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also known for being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imaginations, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original, with no two being exactly alike.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and variations in dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
