Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are rooted in the lifestyle of the Qashqai nomads who weave them by hand in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed sheep wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers.
Gabbehs are made by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each thread by Iranian nomads. They are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbehs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Gabbehs, created in a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feel.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbehs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh just for you that you can cherish for years to come?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
