Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They use vegetable-dyed wool and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, essential for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven piece by piece by Iranian nomads from this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also known for being warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs are meant to be used for a long time; why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung-out towel or similar. Afterwards, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Furthermore, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
