Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as part of their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being an original, one-of-a-kind piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove any detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of it in advance.
