Features of Persian Hand-knotted Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs, deeply rooted in daily life, hand-knotted by the Qashqai nomads who graze sheep in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content to skillfully regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-knotted by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile direction.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-knotted, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving unevenness, and dye unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-knotted rugs.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
