Features of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads, who live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are hand-woven using naturally dyed sheep's wool. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, which helps with body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
As these are hand-knotted, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-knotted item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
