Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a lot of oil to help with temperature regulation and possessing excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in Gabbeh rugs that are plush and comfortable to the touch.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling.
And above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also beautiful enough to be hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug, a piece you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used on the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
