Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are made from vegetable-dyed wool and deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a high amount of lanolin, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture that helps regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven thread by thread by Iranian nomads using natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Gabbeh rugs, being tightly woven, are highly durable and said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
