Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, allows for effective temperature regulation.
These wools are dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, resulting in Gabbeh rugs known for their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool sensation.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape, pattern, weaving, and dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, there may be a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
