Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, boasts excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils for effective thermoregulation. The Gabbeh rugs are made by Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-weave each strand of this natural-dyed wool, resulting in a fluffy and comfortable texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, highlighting its exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of excessive heat. And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original work of art. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may be present. While the smell will gradually dissipate with use, we ask for your understanding in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping

The pom-poms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery upon request. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish for your order to be shipped without the pom-poms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
