Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, made from wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a high amount of natural oils to help with body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-weave each strand of this naturally-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Densely woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original, no two alike.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug, one that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

The pom-poms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
