Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, essential for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which comes from the high fat content that helps regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, using wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each piece a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not discover your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, a unique odor from the wool dyes may be present.
This odor will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Tassels can be removed upon shipment

The tassels attached to the corners and sides of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the tassels does not negatively impact the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the tassels removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
