Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs are characterized by their plush, comfortable feel, as the wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, so they don't feel hot.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be used not only on the floor but also displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove dirt and dust along the nap.
For noticeable stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
