Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. They are deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture is rich in natural oils, which effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads piece by piece with this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but they are also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on a wall.
