Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, handwoven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily life. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and for its soft, pleasant texture due to its high lanolin content, which helps regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, woven individually and meticulously by Iranian nomads using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last up to 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel.
And, of course, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each piece a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as a piece of art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can enjoy for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with water to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being handwoven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a handwoven piece.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request

The pom-poms on the corners and sides of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping if requested.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
