Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, essential for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant feel, containing a high amount of natural oil to regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated, not feeling hot, in summer.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, dyeing inconsistencies, etc. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dyes may be present.
The scent will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Tassels can be removed before shipping.

The tassels attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the tassels will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
