Characteristics of Persian Hand-knotted Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-knotted rugs made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of oil for excellent temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. These wools are dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-knotted one by one by Iranian nomads, giving Gabbeh rugs their distinctive fluffy and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last up to 100 years. Gabbeh rugs, born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing them from feeling hot. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece. They can be placed on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. If you notice stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-knotted, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving unevenness, and dye unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-knotted item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may occur. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

The pom-poms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment. Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you would like the pom-poms to be removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
