Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using naturally dyed wool. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran meticulously hand-weaving this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
As these are hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used on the wool.
This smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed upon shipment

The pom-poms attached to the corners or mid-sections of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery upon request.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
