Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai nomads who inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content that helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, showcasing its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool feel.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, moving along the nap.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
