Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-woven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai nomads in Iran's Zagros Mountains, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, which helps regulate body temperature. Gabbehs are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel, as the wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbehs, born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbehs created by the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish forever? Daily Care Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove dirt and dust along the pile. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area. Please Note Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool, which may result in a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance. Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

The pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish for the pom-poms to be removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
