Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last up to 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, making it feel cool.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often features designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive smell from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
