Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads of Iran's Zagros Mountains, made from plant-dyed wool and deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for effective thermoregulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers.
The Gabbeh, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, is characterized by its plush and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there's its artistic quality. The Gabbeh created by the nomads from their imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique and original piece.
They can be used not only on the floor but also displayed as art on walls.
A Gabbeh that can be used for a long time, why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove dirt and dust along the nap of the rug.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
