Characteristics of the Region (Senneh)

Senneh, located in northwestern Iran, is the name of a city inhabited by the Kurdish people. Senneh kilims are highly regarded among Kurdish kilims and are said to excel in weaving techniques and craftsmanship. Their techniques are believed to be influenced by carpet weaving. Senneh kilims are characterized by small floral patterns and central medallions. Senneh is also currently known as Sanandaj, and a wide variety of flatweave kilims are produced there.
