Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool, and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant feel containing abundant oil for effective temperature regulation. The Gabbeh, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, one strand at a time, is characterized by its fluffy and comfortable texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability. Gabbeh, born from the extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, also has the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer. And of course, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, making each piece a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please appreciate these as part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. As such, there may be a unique odor from the dye used on the wool. The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
