Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in their way of life, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, which helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs are characterized by their plush, comfortable feel, as they are hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh rugs, born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them comfortable even in hot weather. And, above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to the handmade nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a distinctive odor from the wool dyes. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
