Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who are nomadic in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The wool used in this product, known as Persian Variant, possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of lanolin, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, which helps in regulating body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often features designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please note that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request.
The pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipping.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you would like your order to be shipped without pom-poms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
