Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomadic tribe, who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for good body temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs are made by Iranian nomads who carefully hand-weave each strand of this natural-dyed wool, resulting in a fluffy and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, indicating their excellent durability.
Born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, with the characteristic of not feeling hot.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is an original, unique item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Tassels can be removed before shipping
If requested, the tassels attached to the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the tassels does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
