Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs rooted in nomadic life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
This wool is dyed with natural dyes and hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, one by one. Gabbeh rugs are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, and each one is an original, unique item.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but also displayed on walls as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh rug that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If you need to clean it: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe it with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry it in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
Please note that the odor will gradually dissipate with use.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.
The pom-poms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
