Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft texture contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool sensation.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. The Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to its handmade nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
