Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content that efficiently regulates body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from such wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are all part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

If requested, we can remove the pom-poms located at the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh and ship it to you.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
