Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh is a long-pile rug hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture contains a lot of fat to effectively regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh, woven by Iranian nomads using natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand, is characterized by its fluffy and pleasant feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, indicating its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also has the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing it from feeling hot.
And, above all, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh, created from the imagination of nomads, often features designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original item with no two alike.
It can be placed on the floor, of course, but it's also beautiful enough to be displayed on a wall as art.
Gabbeh can be used for a long time; why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
As these are hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
