Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using plant-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original. They are not only suitable for laying on the floor but can also be displayed as art on walls. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and air dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
