Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile that is deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for good body temperature regulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers.
These Gabbeh, woven with wool dyed with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Gabbeh that are tightly woven are said to last for 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing them from feeling hot.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but are also beautiful enough to be displayed on a wall as art.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used to color the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

If you request, we can ship Gabbeh with the pom-poms on the corners or in the middle removed.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
