Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content that helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh, hand-woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel. Strongly woven Gabbeh are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh, created in a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
