Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are made from naturally dyed wool and feature a long pile, deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and it contains a high amount of lanolin for effective thermoregulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling fibers.
Gabbeh rugs, crafted by Iranian nomads meticulously hand-weaving each strand of this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also known for being warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original and unique item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, carefully wipe with water to remove detergent, then dry in a well-ventilventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to their handmade nature, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, and irregularities in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may occur.
This odor will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
