Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, everyday carpets hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, allows for effective temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs woven meticulously by hand, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth or towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
