Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomadic in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling fibers.
These wools are dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs, meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Gabbeh rugs, created from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, offering a sensation of coolness.
And above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imaginations often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilventilated shaded area.
Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
