Characteristics of Hand-woven Persian Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product, due to the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possesses excellent durability for survival and contains a high amount of lanolin for effective thermoregulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling fibers. These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads strand by strand with wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh rugs, born from the climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And, above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created imaginatively by nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Furthermore, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may occur. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping
The pompoms located at the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery. Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh. If you wish to have the pompoms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
