Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with long piles. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with abundant natural oils for effective body temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and each Gabbeh is carefully hand-woven, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads, resulting in a plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbehs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing them from feeling hot.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbehs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh just for you, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool, so there may be a unique scent from the wool dyes.
The scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
